Salmon Tartare
A fresh and flavorful dish where the smooth texture of the tuna combines with the creaminess of the avocado.
- Servings: 2 servings
- Ingredients:
- 200 g fresh sushi grade salmon, diced
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped cilantro
- For the chia dressing:
- 2 tablespoons chia seed oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Juice from half a lime
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- Pinch of red chili flakes (optional)
- Pinch of salt to taste
- Steps:
- Prepare the chia dressing: In a small bowl, mix the chia oil, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, and chili flakes. Set aside.
- Mix the tartar: In a medium bowl, combine the diced salmon, avocado, red onion, and cilantro.
- Dressing: Pour the chia dressing over the salmon and avocado mixture. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients without breaking up the avocado.
- Serve: You can serve the tartare in various ways:
- By itself: Use a plating ring to shape it onto individual plates.
- On toast: Serve on whole-wheat toast or crackers.
- Garnish with a little more fresh cilantro, sesame seeds, or chili flakes before serving.
Chef’s advice: "For a tartare with an impeccable presentation and an extra touch of sophistication and freshness, chill all ingredients thoroughly before mixing, especially the salmon and avocado. You can keep them in the refrigerator until they are completely cold.”
